(Prayer for Independence Day)
O Creator, you gave us freedom to participate with You in establishing your kingdom: we thank You and bless You.
Grant that we use our independence to create a just and holy society, dedicated to each other as the image of God.
Grant that we use our freedom to protect others' freedom from want, from fear, to speak, and to worship.
Make our nation a beacon of justice and peace through shared sacrifice and duty to You.
Help us to bear each others' burdens, ease each others' suffering, and heal each others' wounds.
Help us to be truly grateful for the blessings we receive, and strive to create a more perfect union, as You are One.
Holy One, we lift up the cares of our brothers and sisters, asking your abundant grace and benediction.
Amen.
