Prayer 2148: For Trust and Courage

(Inspired by Psalm 30)
In the midst of struggle and heartbreak, O God,
you abide with us,
and set your kiss upon our hearts.

The Holy One lifts us up
and calls us to strength and courage,
for your faithful love is neverending,
O Savior and Redeemer,
who shares our joy as well as our pain.

You, O Merciful, Life-giving One,
are our sanctuary and our home;
make us true disciples,
aflame with your love
and filled with your Holy Spirit.

May we set out from your altars
rededicated to embodying your peace and justice,
and bearing your light to all corners of the world.

Sealed by your promise of mercy, Lord Christ,
we ask your blessing
as we dedicate ourselves to your Way.
Gather within your embrace
all who call out to you,
and grant your peace to those whom we lift before you.

Amen.

Prayer, day 2093: Trust and Assurance

Lord, we lift up our hearts to You in glory and wonder,
astonished at your imprint in the world around us.
The love of God is my portion and my cup;
the Almighty is my all in all:
how can I fear any evil?
Today we place our hands in the hand of our Savior;
today we seek the path of peace and mercy.

Lord Jesus, help us to put aside
our fearful grip on resentment and strife,
on all that blinds us and binds us.
May our fears fall from us like autumn leaves;
they will dance away from us,
carried by the warm wind of hope.

Let us walk in love and compassion,
seeking reconciliation,
opening our hearts in gentleness.
Merciful One, we know your love never fails:
may the healing wave of love cool our fevered brows.
Send forth your Spirit of Peace, we pray;
shield and comfort all those whom we remember before You.

Amen.

Prayer 1623: as a mother rocks her child

"There is a crack in everything; that's how the light gets in."- Leonard Cohen, "Anthem"

Spirit of the Living God,
you have carried us through the night
as a mother rocks her child:
your mercy is everlasting.

Shine the light of your countenance upon us,
and hear our whispered praises and thanksgivings.

Abide within our hearts and minds, O Holy One;
lead us to holiness and compassion.

Through the power of love
let us work to build up your kingdom
and repair the torn places
within ourselves and each other.

Gentle us and make us peace-makers,
as we seek to witness to your wisdom
to the honor of your Name.

Extend the comfort of your embrace
to all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit,
to all whose seek the way of hope.

Send forth your angels, we pray,
to guide and guard those whose needs we lay before You.

Amen.

Prayer 1391- In times of anxiety

Calla lily, San Carlos Borroméo de Carmelo Mission, Carmel, California.

Holy One, we feel the weight of your hand upon us,
and know You are near.
When we run from You,
and seek our own way,
still You are with us;
your Love is the air we breathe.
When fear rises
like a rogue wave over our heads,
the mighty hand of Our Savior is there,
and You hold us fast.
When a love passes away,
Your love, O Lord, is never shaken,
and abides with us through grief into new light.
When joy comes in the morning,
and truth and peace have embraced,
You are within us in that joy.
Revive our spirits and refresh our souls,
O Lover of All,
and create in us the will to love and serve You
and each other
without fail.
Open our minds to receive your wisdom, O Christ,
that we be Your Body within the world,
all for your Love,
which never ceases.
Bless us and keep us
under the shadow of your wing, Holy One,
and bless all those for whom we pray.

Amen.
