You call us into community.
May we never take more
than we are willing to give.
May we never limit
the label of “neighbor”
to those with whom we are comfortable.
May we walk gently upon this earth,
caring for it in consideration
of those who will come after us.
May we rebuke the power
of division, self-centeredness, exploitation, and lies
IIn our mutual life together.
May we welcome each stranger as kindred.
May we work for healing over hatred.
May we offer grace
as much as we have received grace.
May we stand with the oppressed
and give of our abundance.
And May God’s light shine into the depth and breadth of our lives,
and over those for whom we pray.
Amen.
