O Beneficent One, we praise You,
for You are our portion and our cup,
God who is making the heavens and the earth
and forging within us a new spirit of hope.
In peace, we breathe in your Spirit, O God,
and thank You for sustaining us with every breath,
for teaching us by Christ's example
how to live into our common humanity
as your children, made in your image.
Give us the courage, Lord,
to claim our agency
against the forces of cruelty, division, and greed
rampant among us,
that prey especially on the vulnerable.
Hover over us, O Spirit of Empathy,
that we may take up our work of discipleship
and bear the banner of Love into the world.
Merciful One, we ask your blessing upon this day,
and ask your blessing to also rest on all whose hope is in You.
