Christ looks down from the reredos during a remembrance of Tamir Rice at Christ Church Cathedral, January 1, 2016. |
Lord, we thank You for your goodness and mercy to us, and raise our hearts to You in love and gratitude.
May we resolve to set our hearts upon the path of compassion and care for all living things.
May we treat the hearts we encounter gently and with respect, for all are made in the image of God.
May we welcome the stranger, the homeless, the refugee, remembering the example of our Lord and Savior.
May we seek forgiveness intentionally, remorseful for the times we have failed to care for ourselves, each other, and your creation.
May we turn toward the light of Christ and be filled in body mind and soul, fired by the Holy Spirit to mend our ways.
Guide us, O Shepherd, and extend the warmth of your protection to those we now name.
Amen.
