Blessed be the Name of the Lord,
who lifts us up and places us upon the solid rock:
let us give thanks to God!

Enter into the inmost center of our being, O Holy One,
and anoint us with your Spirit,
that we may cling to your love.
Let us make our home in the embrace of God,
who abides with us and guards all our ways.

May we be filled with the light of Christ:
may it pour forth from our hearts
to illumine our path, and guide us home.

May we be transformed
and radiate the love of Christ
into a world famished for hope and peace.
Beloved Savior, envelop us within your care,
and place your blessing upon those we now name.

Amen.

Prayer 2497: the 1st Sunday. in Advent

Light of Hope,
shine within our hearts
 that we may waken the dawn with our praises. 

God Of All Wonders,
bring us to new life in You,
that we may cast away the works of darkness,
clothing ourselves instead with your truth,
drawing all the world to your glory.

Make us ready and watchful, 
Most Merciful Jesus,
that we may be found worthy of your Name,
living by your kingdom values
of justice, mercy and peace,
ever upheld by your grace.

By the power of the Holy Spirit,
kindle the fire of our spirits
to blaze anew within us,
and place those for whom we pray
under the mantle of your blessing.

Holy God, Light Eternal,
You drive away the darkness that overhangs us
and gather us within your radiant love:
we praise You and bless You, Amen.

Make us a holy fellowship, Lord Christ,
one that seeks out the lost and the hurting
and welcomes all into the circle of light and life,
following your example.

Make us bearers of your light and mercy,
and joyful witnesses of the power of resurrection,
O Creator and Sustainer.

Holy One, we place before you
all those whose peace and well-being has been shattered
by violence and persecution.

Keep watch with those
who worry or weep or mourn, Holy Lord,
and send your angels to minister to those for whom we pray.

Prayer, day 2220

Holy One,
Light of Lights,
rise within our hearts
and fill us with your light,
that we may be people of hope.
Help us to lift up those
who are in anxiety, grief, or trouble,
by loving each other
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Grant us strength for today's labors,
compassion for today's encounters,
and rest within You, O God, at day's end.
Ground us in your mercy, Lord Christ,
and root us in your love,
that we may grow deep in faith and justice.
Gathered in your name, O Savior,
we ask you grant your peace and comfort
to those we remember before You.

Almighty One,
Beloved, Merciful God,
we offer our hearts and hopes to You this day.

In the darkened rooms of our hearts,
we fumble blindly for You, Lord Christ,
forgetting that You are Light,
and abide forever with us.

Help us to let in the Light of Christ, therefore,
to fill the corners of our spirits
with hope and compassion.
Lead us into paths of righteousness,
that we be a priestly people
praying on behalf of the world
for unity and peace.

Let us be transformed
by the power of your gospel of reconciliation and mercy,
O Spirit of Truth.
Enveloped within the chorus of heaven,
let us place our intercessions and joys
before You, O God, and rejoice.
Lord, accept our prayers and praises,
and those we offer for our loved ones.
