Prayer 2651

In peace, we rest in You, O God;
In hope, we lift up our hearts,
safe within your gracious pasture,
in the shelter of your healing hand.

Early in the morning we rest in You,
O God who calls us to stillness
as a mother soothes her fretting child.

Your love is a balm to the soul, O Strong One,
and your constant presence a salve to the spirit.

May we spend this day meditating upon your promises,
O Life-Giving Spirit,
O Womb of Creation,
O Creating and Compassionate One.

Turn our hearts toward those around us, Lord Christ,
and lead us in your way of peace.
Make us a blessing this day
to the seeking and the vulnerable,
and lead us in tenderness and mercy
in response to the light you call into being in all.

Extend the awning of your help to all who call out to You,
O Lord Our Shepherd,
and grant the blessing of your grace to all those for whom we pray.

Amen.

Prayer 2611: Prayer for Sheltering in Place

We bow before you,
O Love that Sustains the Universe,
and offer our hearts
to be filled by your presence.
Make our hearts a holy habitation, O Holy One,
a living sacrifice,
that we may be anointed by your Spirit.

The Earth your footstool,
the heavens your tapestry of light,
the smallest seed and the mightiest baobab,
the pinwheel of birds
gathering food by your providence,
the beating hearts of loved ones in companionship--
You have made them all, O Wisdom Eternal,
and your wonders whirl before our dazzled eyes.

Still our rushing heedlessness,
that we may give glory to You, Blessed Savior,
and lay our hearts bare to receive your Word
in joy and gratitude.

This day is your gift, O God;
may we center ourselves
in each moment
by your grace,
for You are our steadfast help and stay.

Bend near to those who seek your face, Blessed Jesus,
that we may see you everywhere we look,
from our rising to our resting.
Anoint us to your service, we humbly pray,
and grant your blessing to those we now name.

Amen.

Prayer 1716: breathing in grace

Come into the circle.

Almighty God,
as fingers of dawn draw back the curtain of night,
You invite us into your holy stillness.

With every breath,
may we be filled with gratitude, Lord,
and sit in companionship with all your creation.
With every breath,
may our hearts sing, O Creator,
with the music of the angels,
and give praise.

With every breath,
let us cleave closer to You, Lord Christ,
and anchor ourselves more deeply in your love.
With every breath,
let us draw in your wisdom, O Spirit,
and allow it to gentle our fractious ways.
With every breath,
may we be determined to walk in your ways, Blessed Jesus,
and renew ourselves in faithfulness.

With every breath,
may we examine our hearts, Merciful One,
and repent of all that draws us from love.
With every breath,
may we open ourselves to healing, Holy One,
and remember the hurting and the mourning.
With every breath,
may we tend to each other in hope, O Mother,
and make our prayer to You.

Amen.
