Prayer, day 1638: at home in God

The fountain in the Contemplative Court lies at the end of the historical exhibits at the National Museum of African American History.

O Loving One,
may we make our home in You today,
and love You with our whole heart.
May we open our arms to embrace
the amazing gifts of your creation.

May we be guided by the light of compassion,
walk the path of wisdom,
and dance to the song of justice.
May we rest upon your breast like a child
when we are in need of comfort or ease of mind.

May we listen more than we speak,
learn more than we profess to know,
and give more than we take.
May we make ourselves a family of those we meet,
and always celebrate the chance to love and be loved.

We ask your blessing upon these beloveds,
whose needs we lift up to You,
especially those we now name.

Amen.
