Prayer 1989: Seventh Sunday After Pentecost

Almighty God,
we rejoice to come together to worship you,
joining our voices in prayers and praises,
giving thanks for your sustaining hand in our lives.

Blessed Savior, your wisdom challenges us and changes us
to tear down the limitations we place upon ourselves,
to open ourselves to the radical power
of God's mercy and grace.
As we seek the healing presence of Christ in our lives,
may we let go of our resistance to change
even as we seek healing and reconciliation among us.
May we open our spirits and our wills
to the radical love of Jesus,
a love that we canot contain or limit.

Holy Spirit, untamable and free
come into our hearts and set them ablaze
that we may be sent into the world as witnesses
to bear the good news of salvation into the world,
trusting in God to show us the way.

God of Grace and Power,
we lay our concerns at your feet:
grant your peace and healing to all who seek you,
and pour out your comfort over those we now name.

Amen.
