Prayer 1717: The Eighteenth Sunday After Pentecost

Most Merciful God,
we gather together
to worship You as one people
united to You in love.
You, Lord, have claimed us,
and we bow before You in gratitiude.

May we treasure your law
and love You, O God
and each other
with all we are.
By the power of the Holy Spirit,
may we tend and care for those
who are lost, isolated, or struggling
just as You care for us.
Make us one body, one heart
acting in concert for peace and justice,
caring for those who are in pain or trouble.

Blessed Jesus,
may we listen to your call
to return to holiness and compassion
and live in integrity with each other in your name.
Holy One,
fill us with your wisdom,
and place your blessing upon those for whom we pray
