restore us in the paths of integrity and compassion,
that we may live faithfully and lovingly.
Have mercy, Lord Jesus:
we stand in need of your healing love.
We have been led by our own foolishness
from the path of love and mercy:
insisting on our own way,
heedless of the hurts we cause.
Riven by division,
we have lashed out in fear and anger,
rejecting our neighbors' claims to dignity and justice.
Our hearts cry out for comfort,
and tears have been our drink:
take us by the hand;
forgive us our sins that haunt us.
For You, Lord, are the God of mercy,
and we place our hearts before You:
pour the oil of healing over them.
May we walk this day in grace and hope,
restored to fellowship,
led by the light of kindness and peace.
On the wings of angels, Lord,
bear up the sorrowing hearts of those who mourn,
and grant peace and wholeness to your beloveds.
Amen.
