God of Abundance,
you spread each day before us like a banquet,
and abide with us in joy and in sorrow:
we lift our hearts to you in praise.
Give us eyes to see
the in-breaking of your love,
that the light of Christ
may lead us to wisdom and holiness.
Help us lay our gifts before the manger,
and hear that child's cry
in children at the border,
in children fleeing violence,
in children who hunger and thirst--
and welcome them in humility and compassion.
Blessed Jesus,
lay your hand upon our hearts
and heal them of all contempt, anger, and vengefulness,
that we may choose the way of the wise
rather than the way of Herod.
By the power of the Holy Spirit,
extend the awning of mercy and comfort
to all who call upon you, O God,
especially those we now name.
Amen.
