Prayer 1018- In honor of William Temple

The Most Reverend William Temple is remembered this day in the calendar of the Anglican Communion. He was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1942-1944, and was a great proponent for social justice and encourager of the faithful during the darkest days of World War II.

Almighty God, lead us and guide us in spirit and in life, that we may be worthy to claim the name of lovers and disciples of Christ. Help us put aside our fears and jealousies to love each other, O God, and work for the common good.

Help us to imitate Christ, proclaiming our faith in a life of gentleness, compassion, and gratitude for all our blessings. Help us be inspired to use our abilities for the aid of others and the relief of their burdens, for in serving them, we serve You.

Heavenly One, we raise our hearts, our prayers, and our hopes to You: extend your peace to those we now name.

Amen.
